Director Centre of Quranic Research (UM): Prof Dr. Mustaffa Bin Abdullah  

INTRODUCTION

The Centre of Quranic Research (CQR) is Malaysia's first research center for Quranic and Islamic studies, established in 2010 at Universiti Malaya. Its primary goal is to go beyond recitation and memorization to foster a deeper understanding of the Quran through research, publication, and education. CQR aims to be a leading consultant in Quranic research by promoting a profound appreciation of Islamic studies both nationally and internationally. 
  • Mission: To promote and sustain research in Quranic and Islamic studies, encourage collaboration among scholars, and instill a better understanding of Islam based on the Quran and Hadith.
  • Activities: The center organizes research activities, publications, workshops, and annual international conferences called MUQADDAS. It is also home to several divisions focusing on areas like Quranic sciences, contemporary studies, and historical manuscripts.
  • Scope: CQR explores the Quran's interpretation, guidance, and integration with modern sciences, education, and heritage. It also supports the publication of the QURANICA - International Journal of Quranic Research.
  • Vision: CQR aims to be a leading center in Quranic research, contributing to the glory of the Quran and enriching Islamic knowledge through excellence in its activities.
  • Objectives: Key objectives include developing research methodologies, producing high-quality research products and technologies, training future experts, and publishing scholarly work that contributes to the field of Quranic studies.
